How a Boat is Like an Amusement Park

Riding on the bow during big waves is like a roller coaster.
Paddling a kayak down tidal rapids is like a log ride.
But building your own zipline is the best ride of all.
We built it using our stern line in a place called Smugglers Cove.
First we attached a pully and a tube for a seat
then I climbed on and went!

Hi Maia. This looks like SO much fun! I love reading your blog and learning about your adventures. I hope when I have children, they will have a fun sailing trip, too. When I was little, my father made a zip line in the trees for me and it was so cool!

That looks like fun, but I'm not sure how it worked. It looks like the high end was the boat, and the low end was the shore, but she's in the water by the boat.

Both ends were fairly even on this effort. The end that was on the boat was done up to a winch that's at the top of the cabin and the webbing was a bit stretchy - so she went wooshing down from the boat and only travelled a few meters before landing in the water. Then we hauled her back in and repeated it over and over:)
